Job Description

Working under the direction of the Business Applications Leadership, this position provides enterprise-wide transformational leadership to operational initiatives for information technology within a Supply Chain Organization. The Business Application Manager is responsible for the overall delivery and quality of the systems for their functional area as well as process improvement collaboration for their customer portfolio. This position participates in many cross-functional teams and processes. The Business Application Manager is responsible for collaborating with operational leaders and business application leaders in enterprise-wide system strategies.

NOTE: We will hire at level I or II based on qualifications.

Essential Job Duties

  • 1. Responsible for the planning, analyzing, designing, developing, testing, documenting, and deploying of system solution for the assigned functional area with little to no supervision.
  • 2. Supervises other team members to develop and enhance competencies and abilities.
  • 3. Develops, implements, and maintains project plans and other guiding documentation such as the configuration management plan, risk management plan, change control plan, status reports, and communication plan.
  • 4. Consults and actively works with business areas and project teams to assess needs for the various business functions and develops future state business processes, leveraging best practices, to increase efficiency, promote standardization, and reduce costs. Interprets policies, procedures, and applicable laws, and translates business functional requirements, policy, procedures, and laws into technical specifications and recommends appropriate scope of requirements. Executes on system and process solutions benefiting Intermountain caregivers and patients.
  • 5. Provides functional subject matter expertise to system projects in their portfolio.
  • 6. Provides overall guidance and direction to system projects in their portfolio.
  • 7. Finance/Budget: Ensures the system projects stay on schedule, scope, and budget.
  • 8. Oversees integration of the business processes from a project-wide perspective.
  • 9. Manages the reporting and analytical needs for enterprise-wide functional area.
  • 10. Represents the various business applications in meetings to report progress and communicate issues and risks that will impact the schedule.
  • 11. Initiates or participates in an RFP process and/or a build analysis for software solutions to appropriately meet the needs of business in situations where existing systems do not meet needs of the business. Manages the process through the appropriate evaluation and committee reviews.
  • 12. Personnel Management: Manages the daily activities of the manager's team including, but not limited to, work prioritization, project monitoring and tracking, project schedules, project milestone and task accomplishment, risk mitigation, quality assurance, and communication.
  • 13. Manages service level agreements for operational aspects of the manager's functional area and customer portfolio.
  • 14. Administration Control: Accountable to ensure compliance with legal requirements, Joint Commission standards, Intermountain system-wide objectives, as well as state and federal guidelines. Develops policies / protocol when needed and reviews annually to ensure correctness and appropriateness.
  • 15. Strategy: Participates in system strategic decisions. Executes long term strategy planning including but not limited to Return on Investment Analysis, Request for Information and Proposal, collaboration with IT, Sourcing, Finance, and Operations.
  • 16. Is actively involved in industry forums and user groups and surfaces industry trends and best practices for system and operational roadmap consideration.

Minimum Requirements (level I)

  • Master's degree with four years of professional work experienceor Bachelor's degree with seven years of related professional work experience. Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified.
  • One of year leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated detailed understanding of operational processes in healthcare.
  • Demonstrated skill at bringing order to ideas and processes as well as communicating business concepts to technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Proven experience in hands on application management, design, configuration, maintenance, and support for HR, or Finance, or Supply Chain systems.
  • Experience in interpretation of data from multiple data sources and multiple data structures. Ability to quickly come to conclusion with broad levels of data inputs.
  • Demonstrated ability to think and plan on a broad, strategic level and ability to process information and details on a micro level.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated general understanding of programming principles/philosophy.
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills, and analytical skills.
  • Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, database, internet, and e-mail.

Minimum Requirements (level II)

  • Master's degree with seven years of professional work experienceor Bachelor's degree with nine years of related professional work experience. Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified.
  • Three years of leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated detailed understanding of operational processes in healthcare.
  • Demonstrated skill at bringing order to ideas and processes as well as communicating business concepts to technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Proven experience in hands on application management, design, configuration, maintenance, and support for HR, or Finance, or Supply Chain systems.
  • Experience in interpretation of data from multiple data sources and multiple data structures. Ability to quickly come to conclusion with broad levels of data inputs.
  • Demonstrated ability to think and plan on a broad, strategic level and ability to process information and details on a micro level.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Interact with others requiring the employee to communicate information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing TECSYS and PeopleSoft systems
  • Master's degree obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of related professional experience through certification such as Certified Supply Chain Professional, or Professional Business Analyst.
  • Experience and knowledge of the Healthcare Industry.
  • Experience implementing a Supply Chain related system or has been responsible for successful implementation or evolution of an existing system.
