Kforce has a client in search of a DevOps Engineer in Salt Lake City, Utah (UT).Summary:The DevOps movement is aimed at removing silos and encouraging collaboration between development and operations. An attitude of shared responsibility is an aspect of DevOps culture that encourages closer collaboration. A DevOps Engineer is about collaborating with our software developers and IT operations team to improve our agility as a team. Our DevOps team builds tooling and enables teams to deploy, monitor, and maintain their own production environments.Responsibilities include:

  • Overall health of our software in production measured by uptime, performance, and quality of service delivery

  • Operating and maintaining our container infrastructure

  • Helping design and develop our efforts towards an automated and repeatable deployment pipeline

  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships between IT Operations and Development teams


  • Reports to the Manager of the Infrastructure team

  • Accountable to the heads of the development teams and IT operations

  • Interacts closely with developers, architects, security, system, and database administrators

  • 5 years of experience as a DevOps engineer or 3 years as a DevOps engineer plus 3 years more in a related role (i.e. Sysadmin, Developer, etc)

  • Demonstrated knowledge of well-known DevOps technologies and paradigms, including container orchestration and continuous delivery, and curiosity to continue to evaluate new technologies to strengthen our DevOps platform

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team and with cross-functional technical and business teams

The ideal candidate has strengths in some or all of following technologies:

  • Docker, Container Orchestration Platforms: Kubernetes, OpenShift

  • Programming Languages and Frameworks: Java, Spring boot, Hibernate, Maven, REST, JavaScript a plus

  • Scripting languages: Groovy, Bash, Golang, Python, Perl etc

  • Continuous integration/continuous delivery tools: Jenkins, Fabric8

  • Application Servers: Tomcat, Jetty, etc

  • SCM: Git

  • Database management: SQL, Oracle/Postgres/MySQL, Liquibase/Flyway, etc

  • Monitoring and metrics tools: Prometheus/Graphite, Grafana, Nagios

  • Atlassian suite administration

  • Logging: Splunk/ELK

  • Asynchronous message brokers: Rabbit MQ/Kafka

  • Linux/UNIX: Ubuntu, RHEL, CentOS, Alpine, etc

  • Configuration management tools: SaltStack/Ansible

  • Cloud virtualization/infrastructure provisioning experience a plus

  • Familiarity with architectural patterns like microservices, REST, Domain Driven Design, and Event Driven Architecture a plus

  • Confidence to work independently

  • Self-identify what needs to be done and find the solutions to do it
